Overview
The DST milli is a miniature data logger available with two sensors, temperature and depth (pressure). It is also available as a temperature recorder only (DST milli-T). All measurements are time related, utilising a real time clock inside the DST.

Easy to use
DST milli is supported by the SeaStar software for Windows, and a communication box which connects to a PC computer. All communications and data transfer is wireless via the communication box. Prior to usage, and for data retrieval, the DST is inserted into the box for establishing communication through the SeaStar software. The user sets the start date/time and sampling interval. After recapture of DST, the data is retrieved using the communication box and software. The DST can be re-programmed and reused as long as the battery lasts.

Programming options
The user selects the sampling interval when starting the loggers. The default programming has depth and temperature recorded as pairs. The logger can be programmed for more frequent samplings of either depth or temperature. If the logger is programmed with a single interval, it records at the same interval through the whole measurement period. An option is to select mulitple intervals within a measurement sequence, up to 7 different sampling intervals can be defined within a measurement sequence. This is especially useful when more frequent measurements are needed at a certain time period, for example during spawning period of fish.

Applications
DST milli is specially designed for tagging fish, for analysing fish migration, distribution, feeding behavior, vertical and horizontal movements. The tag can be used externally or implanted in fish. If tagged internally, Star-Oddi can deliver the tag with a plastic tube attached that is visable on the exterior of the fish, and can easily be identified by fishermen. For external attachment on fish, Star-Oddi can provide special wire fasteners. DST milli is ideal for research on other marine animals as well (birds, crustaceans or reptiles) . The recaptured DST's provide valuable information on the behavioral patterns of the tagged animal. For recapture and return purposes, customers can add their own text on the housings. The housing is made of bio-compatible material, which does not endanger the health of the tagged animal. The non-transparent housing ensures that the sunlight does not affect the measurements, providing reliable data.

DST milli is also ideal as a stand-alone logger for temperature and depth (pressure) recordings. It is used on fishing gear and underwater equipment, collecting valuable research data. Star-Oddi offers a protective housing specially designed for the DST milli, made of polyurethan plastic. Examples of research projects for the DST milli is within the fields of fisheries research, marine biology and oceanography. With the small size, it can also be used for various studies measuring temperature and pressure in a liquids, such as in beverages, oil and gasoline.
