DST micro-T
The DST micro is a small temperature logger that measures temperature and stores the measurements in memory. All measurements are time related utilizing a real time clock. The tag is based on an ultra small microprocessor and microelectronics.  The DST housing is made of biocompatible material, not endangering the health of the tagged animal when used as an implant.

Research applications
The DST micro-T is specially intended for implanting into animals, studying temperature fluctuation over a period of time. It can be implanted into small fish (salmon smolt, herring mackerel) and upon recapture used to analyse the temperature the fish prefers and compare to Sea Surface Temperature (SST) for approximation of geolocation.  The tag can also be used externally on fish although internal tagging method is recommended for salmon smolts.  The biocompatible housing material makes it ideal for implantation in animals since the animal accepts the tag as an organ and forms tissue around it. The DST micro opens up many other possibilities for monitoring temperature inside small containers and vials. 


Easy to use
Communication and data transfer is wireless through the communication box and no need for opening the tag (logger). The DST micro-T logger can be reused as long as the battery lasts. Prior to applying the tag to the fish or other subject the user sets the start time and sampling interval using the application software SeaStar.  The DST can be operated with up to 7 different sampling intervals, the user selects the number of samplings within each sampling interval.  The data is retrieved using the communication box and the SeaStar Windows software.
