DST GPS measures temperature, pressure (depth) and listens to an acoustic GPS signal from sonar. Data is stored in a non-volatile internal memory. All recordings are time related, utilising a real time clock inside the recorder.
The DST GPS is equipped with unique user specified features for optimising the tag's performance when receiving GPS position.
- With the use of the communication box and the SeaStar software, the user programs the DST GPS with start date/time and sampling interval
- Programming option of up to 7 sampling intervals and number of samplings within each interval
- Option for defining a special interval, making the tag shift to a different sampling interval after each received GPS position
- The DST GPS can be programmed to perform a series of measurements at a detection of a position
- When programming the tag, the user gets information in the software on the tag's memory usage and the expected battery lifetime
The GPS system has been tested in co-operation with researchers and research institutes in Norway and Iceland.
