Data Storage Tag with Temperature and Depth Sensors
High performing data storage tag with long battery life and high pressure tolerance
DST centi-TD is a long life and reliable tag with temperature and depth sensors, well suited for long term behavior and migration studies of fish and marine animals.
- Long life and large memory
- Depth sensors from shallow to deep water
- Fish implantation or external attachment
- User defined text on the housing
Long life and large memory
This long-life DST data storage tag can store up to 524,000 measurements in total with time stamp for each measurement, whilst the batteries storing at 10 minute interval can last up to 9 years. The size is 46 mm x 15 mm and it weighs 19 grams. It is possible to set the tag to shift between different recording intervals within the measuring period.
The DST centi-TD is designed as a data storage tag for migration, dive and feeding behavioral studies of fish and marine animals . It enables scientists to gain valuable information on migration routes and behavioural patterns over a long period of time. The tag can be implanted or attached externally. Depth sensors from shallow to deep water
The tag can be calibrated to 3,000 meters, with tolerance up to 3,500 meters. Shallow water is also available, with a wide variety of ranges: 0.1m-50m, 0.1m-100m, 1m-270m, 5m-800m, 5m-1500m, 10m-3000m
Fish implantation or external attachment
The data logger is designed as an implantable tag and can be implanted in the abdominal cavity. It can also be attached externally on a fish or marine animal using a tag holder kit, ensuring easier and safer attachment.
User defined text on housing for recapture purposes
For tag and release of animals into the wild the tags can have a customized text on the housing, for recapture purposes. It is important to have the return information when the tags are used on commercially fished species, so that fishermen can return a tag with valuable data to the scientist. Normally there is a reward for return.
Spaghetti tag for spotting fish
When DST is implanted in fish it is possible to have a yellow plastic tube, or spaghetti tag, attached to the DST. The tube would stick to the exterior of fish, to make it easier for fishermen to spot the tagged fish.
It is possible to buy the data storage tag with an on/off depth limit switch. This optional configuration saves memory size by only recording data when animal is submerged or at certain depth. This is useful when used on animals that spend their time both in and out of water.
